[RIDING] MONTFAUCON DE ROGLES. Treaty of equitation. In Paris, Imprimerie royale, 1778. One volume in-4, smooth spine decorated (Binding of the time). Posthumous first edition, published by the author's brother, and decorated with 9 folding plates, engraved by La Gardette. Second squire of the Chevau-Légers riding school, Montfaucon de Rogles (1717-1760) was the only squire of Versailles to publish in the 18th century, who wrote on horsemanship with authority. The two editions of his treatise (1778 and 1810) represent the only printed document defining with clarity and simplicity the doctrine taught at the Versailles riding school.
